This is the fourth Allwinner SoC which uses Power VR instead of MALI for GPU. See also SoCs A31, A31s and A80.
The H8 and R58 are nearly identical variants of the A83T.
Overview
A product verification board was created and several boards were sent to developers that applied for them. That board came with buildroot and Linux 3.4. There was no GUI in that image.

Boot0
Boot0 initializes the DRAM, basic clocks and loads U-boot from NAND or MMC. There is no boot1 on A83T. Boot0 directly loads U-boot.
